Why am I Here
A question I often find myself asking on a daily basis as I look at the hopelessness in the world around me
“God why am I here”
If you have asked this question before “You are not alone!” I too have asked this question way too many times.
There are days when I wake up I and I am just tired of the same routine. What motivation do I have to keep getting up every morning. I am tired of the same old every day. It is as if there is a black cloud over me and all the negative thoughts and darkness in the world around me are closing in.
“Why am I Here!”
Some of you reading this might say right now “Well I am here right now because of my family, my job, money, I want to be financially free.
School! I want to get into the school of my dreams.
Fame! I want to become well known.
At least for me these are all things that inspired me on a daily basis, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with having these goals in life.
However while these motivations are admirable they are not the reason why you are here.
God did not send you to this world to become financially free, or become well known.
I Would like to ask you what happens if you lose these goals and motivations.
You get let go at your dream job, the financial system collapses and you lose your life savings. You don’t get into your dream school. You don’t become the famous artist/musician/athlete that wanted to become since you were a kid….So, then what.
If these worldly aspirations are not my reason for being here then what is?
For us to understand why we are here we first have to understand Why God has us here.
God has called us to have more than a routine. God has called us for such a time as now.
Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
We are the light in this dark world. God Has a reason for us to be in this world at this time.
We may not see our worth at this moment. However God does. We are worth so much to him.
John 3:16
“For God So loved the World that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
In this self-centered world God calls us to be selfless. Putting others before ourselves.
“But God how can I be an instrument to others when I am broken inside.”
When negative thoughts come in rebuke them and put a mental image of a stop sign in your head every time that bad thought arises. Remember that every dark cloud eventually passes and that every storm gives way to new light. Our mental struggles our financial struggles, all our world struggles are temporary and do not define who we are.
Take action and meditate on God’s Word Sing a hymn, write to God how you feel, or simply take notes. Be introspective and admire how God made you. You are one of a kind! There never has and never will be another you!
When you wake up every morning give thanks to God regardless of what’s going on around you.
Tomorrow when you wake up take a deep breathe. Give God thanks for the air that you breathe, admire the nature around you, turn off all the noise and be present in God’s presence.
It took me around 10 years to overcome my battles with depression and self doubt. (that is a very long rain cloud). But I can now see from a new clearer perspective and understand God’s purpose for that seemingly hopeless season in my life. These actions and being in God’s presence helped me maneuver that dark season of my life.

Now as I stated earlier God did not send you to this world to become financially free, or become well known. God sent you to this World so that he could be known through you. God formed us so that we could experience his love, and through his love we could share it with others.
So the answer to the question we asked “why am I here”?
You are here because God the all loving father, miracle worker and maker of this seemingly infinite universe wanted to have a relationship with you!
Doing GOD’s work. Here to serve you 🙂
